Meet the crew behind the adventure.

Some people wait for the perfect time to live their dreams. We decided to sail into ours.
We’re Rodney and Patrice, a couple who left ordinary life behind to live full-time aboard SV Kismet, our 44-foot sailboat and floating home.

From the shallow banks of Florida to the turquoise waters of the Bahamas and beyond, every mile has taught us something new about the sea, ourselves, and the freedom that comes with letting go.

Kismet is more than a boat. She’s our home, our teacher, and our path to a simpler, more intentional way of living.

We’re slowly making our way around the Caribbean, sharing the real story of boat life along the way. If you’re dreaming of adventure or just love life on the water, welcome aboard.

Rodney Salazar
Master Captain 50T USCG

Rodney is the steady hand at the helm, calm, capable, and always up for an adventure. With over 12 years of sailing experience, he brings a deep respect for the sea and a natural talent for fixing just about anything. He holds a 50-ton Master Captain’s license and has a background in construction management, specializing in electrical work. Those skills come in handy more often than you’d think when your home floats. Whether he’s navigating rough weather, rebuilding a diesel engine, or savoring a perfect anchorage, he does it all with patience, precision, and a dash of humor.

Patrice Moon
Master Captain 50T USCG

Patrice has been sailing for over 15 years, with experience captaining, crewing, and racing all kinds of sailboats. She holds a 50-ton Master Captain’s license and spent seven years racing her first love, a spirited 26-foot Pearson named Ohana, with an all-female crew. Her sailing adventures have taken her across the globe, including a delivery along the coast of  Italy, Sardinia, and Corsica.  From route planning and provisioning to keeping the boat organized and the crew fed, she is the behind-the-scenes engine that keeps everything running smoothly. If something needs to be prepped, plotted, packed, or planned, she is probably already doing it.
